Winter Biking
« on: February 16, 2021, 06:24:03 PM »
I went out for a bike ride today.  It wasn't freezing, but it was still a bit cold at 43F (6C).  Last fall I bought clothes for colder weather and wanted to try it out.

The ride turned out pretty good!  My core was warm the whole time.  My legs could feel the cold, but they were ok.  Fingers were a little bit cold at first, but then they seemed to warm up.  The only thing that felt cold were my toes.  It wasn't uncomfortable, but they were still cold.  I'm hoping a pair of thermal socks will solve that problem.

I didn't ride as fast as I usually do in the summer, but I wasn't expecting to.  Still, if I can improve my time a little bit better than I did today, I'll be happy with it.  I'm hoping that if I can go out during the off-season, it won't take me as long to be in shape during the summer.  In the past, it's taken me until August to build up the strength and stamina to the point where the riding isn't work anymore, just fun.  It would be great if I could get to that level in June.

I went out riding three times in February and discovered that it really wasn't bad.  Now that it's March, the temps should be a bit higher so I'm hoping to get out at least once a week.

Went out today and had my best time so far this year.  Too bad it's still really slow.

Oh well, I'm out of shape!

Yesterday's ride was better than I expected although it was pretty warm (70F) and I was boiling because I was wearing too much.

I did 200 miles in March.  So far in April, I've done 45.  It's definitely easier as the weather warms up

I'll probably try this again this winter.  I have to get a warm base layer for my legs tho.  They got uncomfortable on the cold days.

I was at the mall and decided to check out tights at the sports store.  The ones they had were $80   :really scared:

Luckily they were out of my size.

I've been out 3 times so far in 2023.  It's been really cold tho, so it's difficult to get motivated.

A few warm days this week so I'm at it.  Problem is, it's like starting over because of the intervals in between when I don't go out.

Woo it was 45 degrees F this morning.  Can't believe I've ridden when it's that cold.
